For almost 25 years I balanced stone lithographs and painting. The techniques were very different…the graphic feel of the stones and the traditional techniques of oil painting.
When my printers retired and I finished my last lithograph, I missed the graphic feel I used in my lithography. Over the years I tried to mix the two techniques together into a new imagining.
Finally, at this late stage in my life, and with nothing to lose, I have started a new project…large, bright graphic painting that will be the final fusion between the two worlds that have been my life.
This is the first test in my search for a new synthesis. It is called ‘The Guardians’. A series of large paintings are to follow, bigger than I have ever painted before and with any luck, something new and beautiful will happen. My first two paintings are using designs I have created earlier. If they are successful, then the journey with new images will begin.
As you have all been so kind over the years, I have come to count on your good wishes and hope you wish me luck on my new project.
